THANASI KOKKINAKIS VS HUBERT HURKACZ PREDICTION
The penultimate match on centre court sees Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis meet Polish star Hubert Hurkacz in what should be a highly entertaining encounter. They have met three times – all of which came in 2023 on hard courts – and Hurkacz won all three meetings so he will super confident entering this second round match.
Hurkacz however is coming off meniscus surgery on July 15th after he picked up an injury at Wimbledon that forced him to retire from a thrilling match with Arthur Fils. It is incredible that he is even participating again but there has to be a concern over his fitness coming into this match with the risk of a withdrawal being high.
His game is perfectly suited to beat Kokkinakis but the Australian will be eager to push him hard and take this match deep. So much depends on what version of Kokkinakis shows up but if he can handle Hurkacz’s big serve, then he can really test out this knee. Barring the fitness concern, we are confident in Hurkacz but approach this one with lots of caution.
