THE LOWDOWN

TAYLOR FRITZ

Taylor Fritz’s journey to his first Grand Slam quarter-final appears to have come easily as the big-serving American is yet to drop a set in the tournament so far, most recently accounting for Jason Kubler in relatively straightforward fashion.

RAFAEL NADAL

Rafa Nadal has improved with each game on the Wimbledon grass and, despite a stern test from in-form Botic van de Zandschulp in the fourth round, the Spaniard still came through in straight sets and is looking in ominous form as he continues his bid for a 23rd Grand Slam title.

THE PREDICTION

Taylor Fritz has quietly gone about his business so far but that all changes now as he faces GOAT-contender Rafael Nadal on Centre Court. The American’s biggest weapon is undoubtedly his serve, which has helped him record an eye-watering 58 aces so far in the tournament, and he will need as many free points as he can get here as, once the rallies begin, the likelihood is that Nadal will dictate. Grass has historically been the Spaniard’s weakest surface but, with both the Australian Open and French Open already in the bag this year, his confidence is sky high and there have been no signs of injury problems so far. Fritz should be good for a set here if he’s firing on all cylinders, but Rafa in four is the prediction.
