TAYLOR FRITZ VS BRANDON NAKASHIMA PREDICTION
Taylor Fritz enters this week at Cincinnati determined to have a strong week and after two consecutive quarter-final appearances in the last couple of years, he will be demanding the same as an absolute minimum.
The 26-year-old gets his campaign under way and has a tough opponent to start with as he drew the talented Brandon Nakashima. He has beaten him in both of their previous meetings, but Fritz will be very aware that 23-year-old Nakashima is a much better player now than he was in 2021 when both those matches took place.
Nakashima has been in North America ever since his Wimbledon campaign ended and he had a fabulous week in Montreal last week that saw him get through four rounds before losing to Andrey Rublev in the round of 16. His win over Tommy Paul was a particular highlight.
If this is a tough assignment for Fritz, it’s clearly one of the hardest that Nakashima could have received. The talented youngster would love to upset his seeded compatriot but Fritz should be focused and fresh enough to get the win.
