TAYLOR FRITZ VS ALEX MICHELSEN PREDICTION
26-year-old Taylor Fritz moved back up to world number 12 after a strong campaign at the Italian Open, beating Sebastian Korda and Grigor Dimitrov before an exit to eventual champion Alexander Zverev. The American reached one round further in Madrid before a straight-sets defeat to eventual champion there Andrey Rublev, suggesting he is a serious contender here in Geneva behind wildcard Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud.
19-year-old Alex Michelsen brought a career-high ATP world ranking of 65th into Geneva as he continues to enjoy excellent yet steady progress ahead of the anniversary of his debut on tour in Mallorca last June. Michelsen finished runner-up to Adrian Mannarino in Newport on grass last July in only his second ever tournament but after also impressing on hardcourts he has struggled a little more on clay so far this swing, with a comeback over Aleksandar Kovacevic a great step on Tuesday.
Fritz, however, is a brilliant all-court threat with a compact, fuss-free game that excels anywhere when he finds some confidence. Back the elder American to win in straight sets.
