THE PREDICTION

World number four Stefanos Tsitsipas survived an early scare on Saturday as he came back from a set down to beat impressive youngster Jiri Lehecka. 23-year-old Tsitsipas is coming from a stellar run to the semi-finals of the Australian Open last month, where he lost to Daniil Medvedev in four sets despite only recently recovering from surgery on his elbow. World number nine Felix Auger-Aliassime was beaten by Medvedev a round earlier but only just as he took the first two sets in an epic five-setter in Melbourne. The 21-year-old has been visibly improving at an alarming rate this season and he exerted that pressure on world number seven Andrey Rublev on Saturday, also coming back from a set down to beat the defending champion.

Auger-Aliassime won both of the first two meetings between the pair but since then Tsitsipas has won five in a row to take their head-to-head record to a convincing 5-2. The Greek’s level is probably not quite as high as the Canadian’s at this exact moment in time but Auger-Aliassime’s record in finals is poor, with an astonishing eight runners-up trophies and no titles to his name yet. Of course, reaching eight finals by the age of 21 is incredible in its own right but Tsitsipas will almost certainly have the metal edge here. Take the Greek to win at least a set as the likelier winner, with three sets likely. You could add a tiebreak here but it would be a risk.
