27-year-old Rebecca Sramkova will break inside the top 100 for the first time after an excellent straight-sets victory over Katie Boulter, edging past the Brit in a 10-8 tiebreak to maintain her spotless run from qualifying through to this biggest match of her career. The Slovak will face her toughest test yet in former world number four Sofia Kenin, who finished runner-up to Iga Swiatek at Roland-Garros in similar conditions four years ago to prove her credentials, but she certainly stands a chance at the upset against a wildly unpredictable opponent.
25-year-old Kenin overcame eighth seed Ons Jabeur in three sets on Friday to win back-to-back matches for the first time her previous spell of good form, with a run to the semi-finals at the Guadalajara Masters last September promising so much more than has been delivered since. A first meeting between the two should go Kenin’s way comfortably but it has been a long time since the American has dependably produced what she should. Take Kenin to earn at least a set to leave the result up to chance.
