SHUAI ZHANG VS LEYLAH FERNANDEZ PREDICTION
After reaching a career high of world number 22 in Singles last January, Shuai Zhang has been on a downward trajectory since then, partly cause by injury. The 35-year-old is aiming to avoid losing her 22nd WTA Tour match in a row here, which would be an outright record for the women’s game.
She’ll be up against it though, as she takes on 15th-seed Leylah Fernandez. The Canadian somewhat disappointingly lost in the round of 16 at the Paris Olympics recently, but has been playing at a far higher level than her Chinese opponent this year, and should claim a comfortable straight-sets win in front of her home fans.
