THE PREDICTION

World number 36 Sebastian Korda came back from a set down to stop Dominic Thiem’s resurgence this week, backing-up some excellent results over Yoshihito Nishioka and Karen Khachanov. Meanwhile, world number 10 Felix Auger-Aliassime has impressed on the kinder side of the draw to see off Dan Evans in three sets and Richard Gasquet via two tiebreaks on Saturday. Korda and Auger-Aliassime, both 22, are through to their second-successive tour finals here after the Canadian claimed his second ATP title at last week’s Firenze Open and Korda finished runner-up to Andrey Rublev in Gijon. Auger-Aliassime’s now seven-match winning streak could prove the difference here, as should the confidence of winning last week, but Korda has made a habit of exceeding expectations over the last two weeks.

Korda beat Auger-Aliassime on clay this summer at the Estoril Open to level their head-to-head record at 1-1, with the Canadian taking their first encounter on a hardcourt at the Acapulco Open last season. Given his streak, back Auger-Aliassime to edge this third meeting outright or take him to win at least a set inside an accumulator.
