THE PREDICTION

World number 28 Sebastian Korda played well to come back from a remarkable test by Serbian up-and-comer Hamad Medjedovic on Monday, winning two of their three tiebreaks to edge into a first final since January. The 23-year-old finished runner-up to Novak Djokovic in that final in Adelaide with some searing form that took him through to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open before a serious injury scuppered his progress. Three of his matches this week have required deciders but Korda beat top seed Tallon Griekspoor on Sunday to look the slight favourite in this first meeting with Adrian Mannarino, who is through to his third final this season after an altogether more comfortable win in his semi-final over Sebastian Ofner.

World number 34 Mannarino has enjoyed a kind draw through to the Astana final but he has earned his place all the same as he continues to enjoy some of the best form of his long career at 35 years old. The Frenchman can be a deceptively hard player to break down, particularly in first encounters, but Korda should have the power and balance required to edge this clash. Back the American to win his second ATP title.
