SEBASTIAN BAEZ VS ARTHUR FILS PREDICTION
Unsurprisingly given his nationality, Sebastian Baez is a natural clay-courter with five of his six ATP titles – including two this year – having come on the red dirt. The Argentine has shown all of his clay-court abilities this week, disposing of Dominik Koepfer, Dusan Lajovic and Luciano Darderi on his way to the semi-finals.
Arthur Fils, meanwhile, is enjoying the best period of his young career. The Frenchman is at a career high of 28 in the world and recently reached the fourth round at Wimbledon. In the quarter-finals here in Hamburg, he eliminated second seed Holger Rune, who retired in the second set after trailing 4-6, 1-4.
This is a first career head-to-head between the two, which makes this one somewhat difficult to call. Baez has the experience on the surface and is a multiple title winner, but Fils is rapidly improving right now and is full of confidence after making the last 16 at Wimbledon. We’re marginally edging Baez here, but it should be close.
