THE PREDICTION
World number five Ons Jabeur beat Madison Keys in straight sets on her return to the tour, with her previous match a gut-wrenching loss to Elena Rybakina from a set up in the Wimbledon final. The 27-year-old has an exhilarating game for all surfaces that should see her add to her three WTA titles, two of which have come this season at the Madrid Open and Berlin Open on clay and grass, respectively. This will be a big test of her resolve, though, as the Tunisian has lost both of her previous matches against world number 19 Veronika Kudermetova. The 25-year-old has enjoyed her best season on tour too, finishing runner-up on three occasions so far to: Simona Halep at Melbourne 1, Jelena Ostapenko at the Dubai Tennis Championships and Anastasia Potapova at the Istanbul Open. Kudermetova has so far impressed this week with wins over Camila Giorgi and Claire Liu but since the pair have played Ons Jabeur has vastly improved. The third seed will get most of the support in San Jose too as a popular character and that should edge things her way in this quarter-final.
