THE PREDICTION

World number seven Novak Djokovic passed a tough early test on Tuesday to oust Maxime Cressy in two tight sets, extending his winning streak on tour to 17 – although the Serb did lose to Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Laver Cup during that span. Djokovic has qualified for the ATP Finals automatically after winning the 21st Grand Slam title of his career at Wimbledon this summer and he has since won back-to-back titles at the Tel Aviv Open and Astana Open to add to his Rome Masters trophy back in May. World number 19 Karen Khachanov recently came back into form with a blistering run to the semi-finals of the US Open and he has looked solid so far in Paris, overcoming in-form Marc-Andrea Huesler in three sets on Tuesday. The Russian will be eager to impress in this ninth meeting with Djokovic, with his only victory over the Serb in that span coming in the final here back in 2018 to claim his fourth, and most recent, ATP title.

Djokovic has beaten Khachanov six times in a row since that day, though, and three times already this season including recently at the Astana Open. Back the former world number one to win outright inside an accumulator or risk straight sets on its own.
