THE PREDICTION

19-year-old Noma Noha Akugue will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 175th after coming back from a set down to beat Storm Hunter on Wednesday, drawing plenty of support in Hamburg as an up-and-coming German talent. The teenager has nothing to lose in this first ever quarter-final on tour but she has drawn a very tough fixture in world number 76 Martina Trevisan, who should be considered a top 30 player on her favoured clay. Former world number 18 Trevisan has conceded just five games to far this week and blasting past a strong clay-courter in Camila Osorio on Tuesday does not bode well for her next opponent. Home advantage should count for something here against an intriguing potential future star in Akugue but Trevisan should have far too much experience in conditions that suit her game. Back the Italian to win outright.
