THE PREDICTION

World number 24 Nikoloz Basilashvili edged through a third-set tiebreak 10-8 to come back from two sets down in a five-set marathon against Maxime Cressy on Monday. The 30-year-old is probably at his bets on the clay but he has yet to win back-to-back matches on the surface this season as his usually up-and-down form looks to be getting even more inconsistent. World number 60 Mackenzie McDonald came back from a set down to beat lucky loser Franco Agamenone on Monday in a choppy opener. The 27-year-old is well know for enjoying the longer five-set format of the sport and he lost to Cristian Garin in five sets at this stage last season in Paris, as well as Kei Nishikori in five later at the US Open.

McDonald beat Basilashvili in just two sets in their first ever meeting back in February at the Rotterdam Open but clay should better-suit the Georgian. The sensible call looks to be taking both players to win a set and leaving the winner up to chance. This match could be worth a five-set one-off punt, though.
