THE PREDICTION
World number 36 Nikoloz Basilashvili got away with one on Tuesday as his first round opponent Zizou Bergs was forced to retire injured from a set up. 30-year-old Basilashvili technically snapped a six-match losing streak by reaching the round of 16 but it is unlikely to feel like one given his recent performances and this looks a tough match-up against Arthur Rinderknech. World number 60 Rinderknech overcame Jaume Munar in a battling three-set victory and his sticking power should eventually outlast Basiliashvili’s current attitude on court, especially on home soil in Metz. However, Basiliashvili remains one of, if not the most, unpredictable player on the ATP tour and he leads the Frenchman 2-0 on their head-to-head record so backing Rinderknech to win at least a set looks the sensible option here.
