THE PREDICTION

World number 57 Pedro Martinez finished runner-up to Hubert Hurkacz at the Estoril Open two weeks ago, perhaps running out of steam after a blistering upset of top seed Casper Ruud in the semi-finals, and he should be considered a dark horse for another deep run in Bucharest. The Spaniard won his only ATP title to date at the Chile Open in 2022 but victory at the Giron Challenger earlier this month suggested he was ready for some form tennis over the coming clay swing and did well to overcome Carlos Taberner in three sets on his opener here on Tuesday. World number 60 Miomir Kecmanovic is capable of much better tennis than his current deflated ranking suggests but a three-set victory over David Goffin on Tuesday was only his second win in his last seven matches. The Serb also claimed his only ATP title to date on clay at the Kitzbuhel Open in 2020 but Martinez is certainly the form player on the surface in this first meeting between the two. Take Martinez to edge through outright.

TIP: PEDRO MARTINEZ TO WIN
