22-year-old Miomir Kecmanovic set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 32nd this week after a run to the semi-finals of the Munich Open was ended abruptly by an inspired Botic van de Zandschulp. The Serb always had the potential to play like he is currently but the serious form he has found in 2022 has come as a surprise after a long spell in the wilderness. Kecmanovic has reached at least the quarter-finals of his last six tournaments with some incredible results over the likes of Matteo Berrettini, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Taylor Fritz. World number 33 Alexander Bublik won his first ever ATP title earlier this year at the Montpellier Open with a huge result of his own over Alexander Zverev. Bublik beat Kecmanovic in three sets at last season’s Astana Open on a hardcourt but the Serb is a totally different player this year and at his best on the clay. Bublik enjoyed the high-altitude conditions here last season and he is well capable of forcing a decider but it would be a surprise to see Kecmanovic lose come the end.
