MAXIMILIAN MARTERER VS ALEXANDER ZVEREV PREDICTION

After Emil Ruusuvuori was forced to withdraw from the competition due to injury, Maximilian Marterer was handed a spot in the main draw as a lucky loser and he now faces Alexander Zverev in the first round.

Marterer managed to get through two rounds of qualifying during the week but lost to Mitchell Krueger in straight sets. He has been handed a reprieve and now he must face his compatriot on day one.

Zverev was looking strong in Cincinnati before losing in the semi-finals to world number one Jannik Sinner. Zverev was arguably the better player for much of that match but Sinner came through in the key moments – something that is becoming a little too common with Zverev in big moments.

He will however come into this latest Grand Slam event with some confidence and he will not have any fears over facing Marterer. He has beaten him in their only previous meeting and should do again here in straight sets.
