MATTEO ARNALDI VS HOLGER RUNE PREDICTION
Matteo Arnaldi comes into the Paris Masters in solid enough form but he has a tough opening match against 13th seed to get things started.
Arnaldi has had the best year of his relatively short career in 2024 but his form in the last few months has just dropped off a little. Since the Canadian Open where he reached the semi-finals, he has not quite hit the heights and the few wins he has managed have come against lowly-ranked opponents who you would expect him to beat.
He will have to raise his game against Rune if he is to make it to the second round in Paris.
Rune remains wildly inconsistent but he can take heart from a strong week in Basel last week where he was eliminated in the semis by eventual winner Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. He has had a string of good tournaments now and it feels like he is getting somewhere close to his best.
Rune has to be favoured to get the win here. Arnaldi is solid in most facets without being spectacular in any and Rune should have too much quality for him here.
