THE PREDICTION

It is surprising to find that this is the first ever meeting between tour ever-presents Marton Fucsovics and Alexander Zverev but that could fall nicely into the Hungarian’s hands. World number nine Alexander Zverev is in hot pursuit of ATP Finals qualification this week in Paris as part of a huge chasing pack and that pressure seemed to take its toll on him last week in Vienna, where defeat to Andrey Rublev saw the German qualify for the fifth of eight places. A shock first round exit to Jordan Thompson at the Tokyo Open before that suggests Zverev is not currently rock solid mentally and that leaves a tiny door ajar for Fucsovics, who often plays his best tennis against the biggest names. The 31-year-old has taken sets from Felix Auger-Aliassime, Francisco Cerundolo and Gael Monfils in recent weeks to suggest backing him to force a decider could be the shrewd move here but the suitably cautious pick for an accumulator probably has to be Zverev coming through outright.

BETTING TIP: Marton Fucsovics to win a set.
