This could be a huge week for world number 42 Marta Kostyuk if she can get a few early wins under her belt. The 21-year-old won her maiden WTA title at the Austin Open back in March in reasonably similar conditions to Guadalajara and the underpowered draw this week should see several players ranked outside the top 20 benefit. Kostyuk took Beatriz Haddad-Maia to three sets before defeat in San Diego last week to look in decent shape and she should have more than enough to coast through this opener against world number 226 Stacey Fung, who will make her tour debut here. 26-year-old Fung has enjoyed a successful season on the ITF circuit so far this year but this should be several steps too far. Back Kostyuk to win in straight sets.
