THE PREDICTION

World number 36 Marta Kostyuk proved herself very much a future top 10 player once again on Wednesday with a thrilling comeback over eighth seed Maria Sakkari. The 20-year-old dropped the first set 6-0 after a poor start but returned from the rain delay with renewed resolve to produce some of her best tennis this season, grabbing a first top 10 win in the process. World number 35 Paula Badosa is a top 10 quality player too as a former world number two but the 25-year-old has struggled with her fitness over the past 12 months, although form started returning on the recent clay swing. The Spaniard beat an out-of-sorts Alison Riske in straight sets on Wednesday in her first match on grass this season and she is well capable of a run here after making the round of 16 at her best in 2021. Badosa beat Kostyuk in straight sets at the Italian Open in May on clay but grass levels the playing field. The Spaniard leads their head-to-head 2-0 after winning a tight, quality three-setter in the third round of the Australian Open last season and this match should look more like that battle if Kostyuk brings her confidence back. Take Kostyuk to earn at least a set but leave this match out of an accumulator.
