THE PREDICTION

28th seed Alison Riske survived a scare on Wednesday as she dropped the first set against Polish youngster Maja Chwalinksa before eventually coming through comfortably. The 31-year-old reached the quarter-finals here back in 2019 as one of the better grass-court players on tour and she recently finished runner-up to Beatriz Haddad-Maia at the Nottingham Open, beating the likes of Caroline Garcia and Viktorija Golubic en-route. A first meeting with world number 66 Marie Bouzkova looks a tough prospect, though, as the Czech conceded just three games to Ann Li on Wednesday to back-up a huge upset of seventh seed Danielle Collins in the first round. 23-year-old Bouzkova is through to the third round of a Grand Slam for a first time and that boost in confidence should help her to at least a set against Riske, which looks a useful way to avoid picking the winner here.
