This looks an upset in the making as world number 11 Maria Sakkari brings a three-match losing streak into the Dubai Masters to face up-and-coming Emma Navarro. 22-year-old Navarro came back from a set down to beat Katerina Siniakova on Sunday as she continues to enjoy a remarkably consistent surge up the rankings to her current career-high of 23rd. The American’s brilliant surge started around the time she stunned Sakkari in three sets at the San Diego Open last summer, losing out in the semi-finals to eventual runner-up Sofia Kenin, but Sakkari rolled through to the Guadalajara Masters title a week later to look briefly cured of her woeful form.
