THE PREDICTION

Top seed Maria Sakkari needed three sets to sneak past Irina-Camelia Begu on Saturday to reach just her fifth WTA tour final. The 26-year-old has enjoyed a strong week with impressive results but second seed Anett Kontaveit is one of the most in-form players in the world right now. The world number nine beat Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets on Saturday to back up a great result over fifth seed Belinda Bencic on Friday. Kontaveit, also 26, is targeting back-to-back titles in Russia after winning the Kremlin Cup late last season in one of four tournaments won over a two-month span. One of those was the Ostrava Open, where she beat Sakkari in three sets.

The pair share a 5-5 head-to-head record that was topped up heavily last season, with Kontaveit winning three of five meetings including each of the last two. Take the Estonian to edge past again here with her winning mentality stronger than her opponents’.
