LULU SUN VS DONNA VEKIC PREDICTION

Lulu Sun continues to defy the odds at Wimbledon this year, with the 23-year-old’s latest outing seeing her end the hopes of British darling Emma Raducanu on Sunday. This is well and truly unchartered territory for the New Zealand-born qualifier, who is only appearing in the main draw of a Grand Slam for the second time in her career.

If it wasn’t for Sun, there would have been a lot more media focus on Donna Vekic, who is the only other unseeded player remaining in either the men’s or women’s draw. The Croatian has never before reached the last eight at Wimbledon, although deep runs in majors are not completely alien for the world number 37, who has previously reached the quarter-finals of both the Australian and US Opens.

This is certainly a difficult one to predict, especially as it is a first career meeting between the pair. Sun’s fearless approach has won her many fans at the tournament, while the experience does lie with Vekic in this one. It will surely not be one-way traffic for either player, so consider backing both players to win a set.
