THE PREDICTION

World number five Aryna Sabalenka has looked in serious form this week with three straight-set results over top players in Liudmila Samsonova, Marketa Vondrousova and Irina-Camelia Begu but whilst she is the favourite for the Adelaide 1 final she is far from the story. 18-year-old Linda Noskova stunned the top seed Ons Jabeur in three sets on Saturday to back-up a week of incredible results over the likes of Victoria Azarenka and Daria Kasatkina. The teenager will almost halve her WTA world ranking to a career-high of around 56th no matter the outcome here but it would not be the biggest surprise of the week to see her stun second-seed Sabalenka to rise inside the top 50. The Czech looks the type to totally cope with her first tour final and fellow rising star Linda Fruhvirtova did not blink in hers late last season, although Sabalenka is a different class of opponent. Notably, Sabalenka has lost each of her last four finals on tour but she can be backed to edge things here as the outright winner with three sets looking likelier than two.
