KEI NISHIKORI VS GABRIEL DIALLO PREDICTION
Former number four Kei Nishikori finished runner-up to Marin Cilic at the US Open in 2014, setting his best showing at a Grand Slam, but he has reached the quarter-finals here on three occasions in 2015, 2017 and 2019.
The 34-year-old has missed the vast majority of the past few seasons through injuries and recovery setbacks, with this only his second match since last July, where he reached the quarter-finals of the Atlanta Open.
World number 166 Gabriel Diallo battled through a trio of three-set wins this week to make his Grand Slam debut but he has struggled to string much form together this season. The 22-year-old has showed plenty of promise whilst representing Canada on Davis Cup duty in recent months but if Nishikori is fit, and that is a big if, for his return to Paris the Japanese should be able to find a way through.
This match should be kept far from any promising accumulators but otherwise expect sets to go both ways.
