KAROLINA MUCHOVA VS QINWEN ZHENG PREDICTION

After pulling off a sensational win over Aryna Sabalenka to break the Belarussian’s long unbeaten run, Karolina Muchova will come into this semi-final full of confidence. The Czech 28-year-old had not had the hardest of runs up until that point thanks to how the draw played out but she raised her game notably against Sabalenka who she has a good record against.

She now meets China’s number one Qinwen Zheng who overcame the valiant 17-year-old prodigy Mirra Andreeva over three sets also. After going 4-0 down in the first set, she fought back into the set but ultimately lost it. She dominated the second and then battled to victory in the third to progress.

The pair have met twice before with both players winning one match apiece. Qinwen Zheng won the encounter this year in Palermo over three sets and it would be no surprise if this went the distance also.

We marginally favour Qinwen Zheng but she may need to start better. With the home support firmly behind her, that may just give her the edge especially as it would be no surprise to see Muchova just drop off a little after the Sabalenka battle.
