KAREN KHACHANOV VS ALEXEI POPYRIN PREDICTION
Karen Khachanov is playing some fantastic tennis right now and that was clear for all to see in Paris on Wednesday when he beat home favourite Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. After losing the first set on a tie break, he responded in style winning the next two sets and breaking big-serving and in-form Frenchman three times.
Khachanov has strong memories of this tournament having won in 2018 and he reached the quarter-finals last year. After winning in Almaty two weeks ago and finishing runner up to Jack Draper in Vienna last week, Khachanov is flying with confidence right now.
He now meets Alexei Popyrin who produced a typically fighting display to beat Daniil Medvedev on Wednesday. Neither player was playing at particularly high level and there was plenty of tension on the court, but Popyrin fought back from a set down and one the key moments in the deciding third set.
The pair have met four times previously including once in 2024. Khachanov won that match in Doha and has won three of the four previous meetings.
We favour Khachanov to repeat that and get another win here. He is serving really well, has adapted to the fast conditions of the surface really well please and the consistency in his play is second to none right now. He should have too much for the Australian.
