JIRI LEHECKA VS ROBERTO BAUTISTA AGUT PREDICTION
Jiri Lehecka comes into this round of 16 match with good preparation behind him having played another Spaniard Pedro Martinez in the first round of the China Open. Lehecka won that match in straight sets and that should serve him well for his round of 16 clash with Roberto Bautista Agut.
Bautista Agut has come through qualifying to reach this stage and was handed a bonus when his first-round opponent Grigor Dimitrov withdrew from the competition. He then faced Arthur Rinderknech who he beats in straight sets and now the 36-year-old Spaniard, meets Lehecka; a player 14 years his junior.
The two players have played three times before and it is the veteran who has won all three matches. The most recent came just a couple of weeks ago in the Davis Cup where he won in straight sets. The previous two meetings were in 2022 and 2023 and two of the three meetings have taken place on hard surfaces.
Bautista Agut clearly has the edge over Lehecka and it is hard to see past that. Everything else points towards the Czech player, however, this seems one of those cases well one style is made for the other player. Lehecka needs ranking points to continue his rise up the rankings so expect this match to go the distance. Our preferred play here is on set betting and over 2.5 sets.
