JELENA OSTAPENKO VS NAOMI OSAKA PREDICTION

You have to go back to the first round in 2022 for the last time Naomi Osaka set foot on a US Open court, losing to fellow American Danielle Collins. She returns here looking to remind everyone why she’s still one of the best players in the world at a venue that no doubt means so much to her. The USA superstar remains formidable opposition, but has been drawn against a fellow Grand Slam winner in Jelena Ostapenko, who has been in much better form across the season, most recently making the last eight at Wimbledon

Osaka and Ostapenko haven’t faced each other for eight years, the former winning a French Open encounter and whilst they are fairly different in terms of playstyle, the determination and battling qualities of both should lead to an enthralling contest. You could argue that hard court is Osaka’s strongest surface and if she was to play at her very best, it would be enough to beat Ostapenko. However, the Latvian’s big-match pedigree cannot be underestimated and having the crowd against her won’t be an issue. It would be no surprise if this one proved to be a battle that see-saws either way and backing over 22.5 games to be played has to be favoured.

JELENA OSTAPENKO VS NAOMI OSAKA TIP: OVER 22.5 GAMES PLAYED
