THE PREDICTION

World number 12 Jelena Ostapanko is in some serious form so far this season having reached a final at all three tournaments she has featured so far – winning in singles at the Adelaide International, in doubles at the Brisbane International and finishing runner-up in doubles at the Australian Open. The 26-year-old has, oddly, only lost to Victoria Azarenka so far this year after defeats to the Belarussian in the quarter-finals in Brisbane and the third round in Melbourne two weeks ago so she will be pleased to see no sign of her here in Linz.

World number 91 Clara Tauson also lost to Azarenka, the round before Ostapenko, in Melbourne but she has bounced back well with a comeback victory over Camila Giorgi on Tuesday backing-up a blistering qualifying campaign. The Dane is still far from her previous breakthrough best three years ago, where she stunned Ostapenko to win the Luxembourg Open title in three sets, but she should be well up for this challenge backed by the confidence of a 1-0 record against the top seed. Ostapenko is no stranger to a three-setter, so consider taking Tauson to earn at least a set here for better value than backing the Latvian to win outright.

TIP: CLARA TAUSON TO WIN A SET
