JANNIK SINNER VS TAYLOR FRITZ PREDICTION

Jannik Sinner overcame revelation Jack Draper in the semi-final on Friday to book his place in a second Grand Slam final. After winning the Australian Open at the start of this year, Sinner now has a golden opportunity to add a second Grand Slam title to his collection at the age of 23.

Sinner was dominant in a relatively close match for the first two sets at least but he had to overcome an injury scare after falling and hurting his left wrist. They did some work on it to ease the pain but it will no doubt require some attention in the time leading up to the final. It is hard to see it preventing him from playing nor should it overly impact him with the use of painkillers.

Sinner will meet Taylor Fritz who had to come back from 0-1 and 1-2 down in sets to eventually overcome compatriot Frances Tiafoe. Fritz had to put a serious amount of effort into that match on Friday night to get the win and it certainly feels like he has put a lot of energy into just reaching the final.

The physical condition of both players will be key to the outcome of this match but assuming both are fine and ready to, we simply have to favour Jannik Sinner to get the win. Fritz has been outstanding this fortnight in registering wins over the likes of Berrettini, Ruud, Zverev and Tiafoe, but this may just be a step too far. For as impressive as he has been, he is having just too many lulls in his matches and against Sinner who is arguably playing as well as ever, that will be exposed in this final.

Sinner has had much less time on court and is looking incredibly sharp. While there may be some moments where Fritz looks like he is measuring up, just as Draper did in the semi, we expect Sinner to ultimately win the key moments and run out winner in three, potentially four, sets.
