JANNIK SINNER VS JORDAN THOMPSON PREDICTION

World number one Jannik Sinner got off to a solid start in Cincinnati as he eased past 19-year-old Alex Michelsen. Sinner saved eight break points in that game and while the scoreline looked comprehensive, there is still plenty of room for improvement.

The Italian continues to be troubled with a hip problem but the 22-uyear-old showed no signs of it in his win. He is not at 100% however and that may be on his mind as he faces Thompson here.

Jordan Thompson has beaten Ugo Humbert and then Sebastian Baez to reach the round of 16. The Aussie is playing some good tennis right now and he will come into this match knowing he has nothing to lose. He has yet to face Sinner on the Tour so it will be interesting to see how they measure up.

It would be no surprise if Thompson manages to make things difficult for Sinner. Michelsen did so and the way Thompson is playing, it would be no surprise to see him win a set.
