JAN-LENNARD STRUFF VS DANIIL MEDVEDEV PREDICTION

Daniil Medvedev comes into this third-round clash with Jan-Lennard Struff as a big favourite to win, but he will be hoping to improve on his performance last time out. Victory was never really in doubt despite losing a first set tiebreak to Alexander Muller but it was perhaps not as comfortable as it should have been for Medvedev.

Struff has been solid so far in overcoming Fabian Marozsan in the first round in four sets and then Zhang Zhizhen in four also. He relies on his big serve but he will have to reduce the errors against Medvedev or he will be duly punished. He served nine double faults against Zhang last time out and was broken twice which is ominous coming into this match against somebody of Medvedev’s calibre.

It is easy to see how Struff could make it hard for Medvedev early on if he can hold serve and potentially drag a set out to a tiebreak but he will not have a level of consistency capable of pushing Medvedev all the way. A comfortable win for Medvedev in straight sets is most likely, but do not rule out Struff sneaking one set on a tiebreak.
