JACK DRAPER VS HUBERT HURKACZ PREDICTION

Jack Draper returned to winning ways in the first round as he eased to a straight sets win over Mattia Bellucci. That was his first win since the US Open where he reached the final as he lost both of his matches in the Davis Cup two weeks ago.

He looked strong and well rested however and he will now aim to enjoy a good week in Tokyo. He now faces Hubert Hurkacz who has beaten him four times in their five meetings so this will be a stern test.

Two of those meetings came earlier in 2024 but both came on clay which is arguably Draper’s weakest surface. The previous meeting before that was at the US Open last year where Draper won on a hard surface and he will be confident on the hard court in Tokyo here.

Hurkacz edged past Marcos Giron in three sets in his first-round match and he will have to raise his game against Draper here. The big Pole will likely find this version of Draper too good defensively and too mobile for him to deal with and we expect the Brit to get the win and progress from this one.
