THE PREDICTION
World number one Iga Swiatek made it six wins on the spin with a comfortable victory over Elina Svitolina on Wednesday, backing-up a solid start against Sloane Stephens. The 22-year-old became the first woman since Serena Williams to win a title in three successive seasons with victory at the Qatar Masters last weekend and she looks the strong favourite to the double here after finishing runner-up this time last season. World number seven Qinwen Zheng beat Anastasia Potapova in straight sets on Wednesday to settle into the draw in Dubai but this looks too steep of a challenge for the Chinese at this moment in time – with some choppy performances since she changed the course of her career by finishing runner-up to Aryna Sabalenka at the Australian Open last month. The 21-year-old has taken sets from Swiatek in three of their five encounters but lost them all so far, suggesting an outright call for Swiatek is the sensible move and straight sets a reasonable risk.
TIP: IGA SWIATEK TO WIN
