THE PREDICTION

World number one Iga Swiatek passed a significant test on Wednesday with a straight-sets victory over an impressive Sloane Stephens. The 21-year-old has lost three of her last nine matches on tour after breaking an incredible 37-match winning streak at Wimbledon, with six tournaments won in a row from the Qatar Masters through to Roland-Garros. It should not take long for her to regain her peak ruthlessness but she faces another tough test in former world number seven Madison Keys, who is yet to drop a set this week after two tough wins over Yulia Putintseva and Jelena Ostapenko. The 27-year-old was champion here in 2019 and after a few fallow years she claimed the sixth title of her career at the start of this season in form that saw her run all the way to the semi-finals at the Australian Open. Swiatek blasted past keys in straight sets at Indian Wells this season on her way to the title, though, and she can be backed to make it 3-0 against the American with another win in two.
