IGA SWIATEK VS ARYNA SABALENKA PREDICTION
Iga Swiatek was given a tough test by rising star Mirra Andreeva in the quarter-final, with the world number one pushed all the way by her big-serving opponent. The Pole dropped the first set but showed all her fighting qualities to turn the match in her favour, winning 7-5 in the third.
Aryna Sabalenka made it four Cincinnati Open career semi-finals by seeing off Liudmila Samsonova in the last eight, but she has faltered each time she has reached this stage of the tournament. The omens don’t look good for her here either; she has a losing head-to-head against Swiatek – as do most players on tour – including both their meetings in 2024.
Sabalenka fans may point to the fact that two of her three victories over Swiatek have come on hard courts, both at the season-ending WTA Finals, but the fact of the matter is that if Swiatek plays her A-game, there will only be one winner. The world number one’s battle with future Grand Slam contender Mirra Andreeva will stand her in good stead here, and she is likely to progress to a fifth WTA 1000 final of the season.
