HUGO GASTON VS FACUNDO DIAZ ACOSTA PREDICTION
France’s Hugo Gaston meets Argentine Facundo Diaz Acosta in the second semi-final in Kitzbuhel and this should be an entertaining encounter. The pair have met twice before – both on clay – and they have each won a match, with Gaston taking the latest one which came in Hamburg earlier this year.
The duo will both be full of confidence after excellent semi-final wins. Gaston beat the defending champion Sebastian Baez over three really tight sets (7-5 5-7 7-6) and that will give him a major lift. Diaz overcame fourth seed Pedro Martinez after coming back from a set down. He generated 19 break points in that match and while he only converted four of them, that will inspire him.
Despite losing their last encounter, it was Diaz that won more games and generated 15 break points compared to Gaston’s six. Clearly Gaston won key points at key times but Diaz will know he can cause the Frenchman trouble.
Gaston could well have a little drop off after the highly emotional win over Baez in the quarters and there are a factors that just make us lean towards the Argentine in this one.
