THE PREDICTION

19-year-old Holger Rune set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 25th this week after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Stockholm Open final on Sunday to claim his second ATP title of the season. The Dane has worked quickly to address his shortcomings away from his favoured clay, on which he claimed his maiden ATP title at the Munich Open, with remarkable results over the last month of indoor hardcourt tennis – also finishing runner-up to Marc-Andrea Huesler at the Sofia Open after upsetting the two-time defending champion Jannik Sinner. Former world number 25 Ugo Humbert has endured a torrid season since contracting covid-19 at the Australian Open but the 24-year-old has shown brief, encouraging flashes in recent months that 2023 should see a return to the top 30, top 40 at least. The Frenchman beat Dominic Thiem to a Challenger title last month and he has already defeated the likes of Aslan Karatsev and Jenson Brooksby in qualifying and first round matches, respectively.

However, Rune is in searing form at this moment in time and the clear favourite to make the quarter-finals. The Dane beat Alex de Minaur in straight sets on Wednesday and he can do the same here.
