THE PREDICTION

19-year-old Holger Rune won the first ATP title of his career last month at the Munich Open and he took that form straight into a huge debut at Roland-Garros, stunning Stefanos Tsitsipas in four sets before a quarter-final exit to eventual runner-up Casper Ruud. The Dane has lost both of his grass-court matches so far at Halle and Eastbourne but he will be eager to impress on his Wimbledon debut as a seeded player at a major for the first time. World number 67 Marcos Giron will be a tough first round draw after stunning Botic van de Zandschulp at the Mallorca Open this week and taking a set from Stefanos Tsitsipas before defeat in the quarter-finals. The 28-year-old also took a set from Felix Auger-Aliassime in defeat at Halle the week before and that form on grass is enough to suggest an upset is very much on the cards here. The suitably cautious pick in this first meeting would be Giron to win at least a set, although at least two seems a reasonable risk.
