GRIGOR DIMITROV VS GAEL MONFILS PREDICTION
Grigor Dimitrov and Gael Monfils face off in the third round in what should be a fascinating match between two veterans of the game. They have met five times previously and Monfils has won four of those matches. The only one which Dimitrov won came in 2014 when Monfils retired in the first set so Monfils will rightly think he has yet to be beaten by the Bulgarian.
That all points favourably to the Frenchman albeit the last of those matches was eight years ago in 2016. Additionally, while Monfils had a rest day yesterday, Dimitrov was embroiled in a five-setter with Shang Juncheng. The Bulgarian 33-year-old lost the first two sets and then hauled it back by winning the next three, but that will undoubtedly have taken its toll on the 10th seed.
That may just be what Monfils – four years his senior – needs to have the advantage in this match. He is a good stylistic matchup for him and he is in excellent form. Dimitrov is the favourite but the value is on Monfils. Our preference is on game betting here and over 37.5 games is very tempting.
