THE PREDICTION

World number 21 Grigor Dimitrov has impressed so far at Roland-Garros with back-to-back comprehensive straight-set wins over Marco Giron and Borna Coric. The 31-year-old has lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in each of his last three tournaments in Barcelona, Madrid and Rome and he could have met the Greek in the Monte-Carlo Open final where he not beaten by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the semi-finals last month. Dimitrov beat Diego Schwartzman in straight sets at the Madrid Open earlier this month to take their head-to-head record up to 3-1 with each of the last three meetings going his way. World number 16 Schwartzman beat Dimitrov in the Istanbul Open final back in 2016 to win the first of his four ATP titles, three on his favoured clay. The 29-year-old reached the semi-finals here in 2020 before losing to eventual champion Rafael Nadal but he has so far struggled to impose himself this campaign.

The Argentine came back from two sets down to beat Jaume Munar impressively on Thursday but perhaps Dimitrov has the edge in this third round clash. Take the former world number three to win at least two sets as the likelier of two very capable winners in what should be a thrilling match.
