GIOVANNI MPETSHI PERRICARD VS DENIS SHAPOVALOV PREDICTION
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard produced an outstanding display in the round of 16 he did something that no other player has managed in the last three editions of this tournament and that was to beat Felix Auger-Aliassime. He dominated the first set and won 6-1 and then edged a tiebreak in the second to knock out the defending champion.
He blasted a staggering 22 aces and did not concede a single break point such was his dominance on first and second serve. When he is playing this well, he is almost unplayable and his return game was strong enough to generate his own break points.
He now plays Canada’s Denis Shapovalov who is quietly going about his business. He dominated Juncheng Shang in the first round and then beat the in-form Roberto Bautista Agut 6-3 7-6 in the round of 16.
He does not come into this tournament with much form behind him but he has the talent on his day to beat almost anybody. He has never played Mpetshi Perricard before however and it will be interesting to see how quickly he adapts to handling the sheer power of the Frenchman.
That will not be an easy task based on how the 21-year-old is playing right now. He is full of confidence and on this form, it is hard to back against him.
