THE PREDICTION

World number 14 Cam Norrie is the defending champion here at the Lyon Open and he beat Sebastian Baez in three sets in the quarter-finals for the second-successive season to look the slight favourite to lift the title on Saturday. The 27-year-old also beat Francisco Cerundolo in last season’s campaign but he will face an improved version of the Argentine here, who did well to come back from a set down to oust Jack Draper on Thursday. 24-year-old Cerundolo stunned Jannik Sinner at the Italian Open last week to reach the quarter-finals but Norrie is one of just two players to have beaten Carlos Alcaraz on clay thus year when he lifted the Rio Open title in February. Cerundolo beat Norrie in straight sets at the Monte-Carlo Open last month but the Brit is in a better place right now and a hard man to stop at this stage of a tournament. Back Norrie to earn at least a set and leave the victor up to chance.
