THE PREDICTION

24-year-old Frances Tiafoe will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of at least 25th after coming back from a set down to beat Sebastian Korda on Saturday. The American has improved with each round at the Estoril Open to oust two pre-tournament favourites in Korda and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina before him to reach a second final here in Portugal as runner-up to Joao Sousa in 2018. Not to be outdone, 21-year-old Sebastian Baez beat the defending champion Albert Ramos-Vinolas in three sets on Saturday to reach his second ATP final this season. The Argentine will also set a new career-high ATP world ranking if at least 44th after an excellent campaign that includes one of his ranking best over Marin Cilic and he is the more complete clay-courter of the two in this first meeting with Tiafoe. Each of Tiafoe’s four matches this week, and three of Baez’s, have seen three sets and that looks the useful alternative to a tough call here. If a winner must be picked back Tiafoe here with the experience of winning a title behind him and two huge results this week.
