FRANCES TIAFOE VS GIOVANNI MPETSHI PERRICARD PREDICTION
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard was literally unplayable in Basel last week en route to the Swiss Indoors title. It will be interesting to see whether the 21-year-old Frenchman can continue that form this week in Paris or whether he has that typical emotional come down and struggles to hit the heights.
He blasted an incredible 109 aces across his five matches at an average of just under 22 per match and he just delivered at all the key moments against some quality opponents.
He meets Frances Tiafoe who he has never met before and these two will make for a highly entertaining match. Since his run to the semi-finals at the US Open, Tiafoe has not quite reproduced those levels and has been eliminated in the second round of the last three tournaments he has played.
He is not quite firing on all cylinders at the moment and that does not bode well when facing the dominant Mpetshi Perricard for the first time.
We have to favour the Frenchman in this one. Had it been any other tournament, we would have expected a natural drop off for such a young player after such a big achievement. However, he will get all the crowd support and that should suitably motivate him to hit the heights once again.
