THE PREDICTION
World number 34 Felix Auger-Aliassime fought back hard from a set down to beat Maximilian Marterer in three tiebreaks on Tuesday as he continues to labour on tour. The 23-year-old set a career-high ATP world ranking of sixth last season, after an incredible 2022 saw him lift four ATP titles on his favoured indoor hardcourts, but clay was never his thing even during that peak year. World number 85 Taro Daniel beat Christopher O’Connell in straight sets on Tuesday to snap a two-match losing streak on tour but he finished runner-up to Alejandro Tabilo in Auckland in January and he is certainly capable of better tennis than his ranking suggests. The 31-year-old claimed his only ATP title on clay at the Istanbul Open back in 2018 to prove his ability on the surface but Auger-Aliassime would still be backable to come through this fixture near his best. Consider taking Daniel to earn at least a set or go for at least a tiebreak given the Canadian’s opener.
TIP: TARO DANIEL TO WIN A SET
